Appearance Materials Inc. was founded by Jack Page. In 1955, Jack began
the business by first working out of his garage on a small beach town road
in Madison, Connecticut. In the early 1960’s, as his business began to
grow, Jack moved the business into a manufacturing plant close to downtown
Madison. Jack had three salesmen working for him at that time. He
developed the small, family-like work environment that is still evident at
Appearance Materials today. With business booming, Jack permanently moved
the business to a small industrial park in Westbrook, Connecticut. In
1990, Jack retired to Naples, Florida and lived well into his nineties.
He loved to reminisce of his working days and visited the plant as often
as he could. Jack would happily sit at the plant, watching the salesmen
come in after a hard days work, and listen to their stories of being on
the road. It was truly a business built from a labor of love.
This theme still continues today, with family members running the
business. Appearance Materials adds a friendly, neighborly approach to
doing business with its customers. They pride themselves on their family
reputation, from the roots and vision of their grandfather, to delivering
the high quality personalized service that was started over 55 years ago!
